COMPARISON OF CDR FOODLAB SYSTEM AND NGD-ISO METHOD IN OILY MATRICES

The purpose of this study is to compare the performance of the CdR FoodLab instrument to the NGD and ISO methodologies relative to the determination of soaps and of the number of peroxides and acidity on an oily matrix.

The reference methodologies are:

  • NGD C8 - 1976 for the determination of soaps
  • ISO 660 for the determination of acidity
  • ISO 3960 for the determination of the number of peroxides
Samples of an oily matrix were tested and the test was carried out for each sample using both methods.

Outcome of the test carried out by the Neotron Laboratory:

"The CdR FoodLab system is easy to use. The tests conducted relative to the determinations of the number of peroxides, acidity and soaps showed excellent photometric linearity of the instrument and the results obtained are comparable to those of the tests carried out in parallel using the ISO methods, for peroxides and acidity, and the NGD method, for soaps.
The ISO methods for the determination of the number of peroxides and of acidity can be superimposed on the analytical criteria established for the same parameters by EEC Regulation no. 2568/91 and subsequent modifications."
