OILY MATRIX ANALYSIS WITH CDR FOODLAB SYSTEM

Neotron laboartory carried out this study that compared the repeatability results obtained with the FoodLab system in the determination of the number of peroxides and acidity on oily matrices of a vegetable nature to the repeatability results obtained in the laboratory applying SINAL accredited methodologies:

  • Attachment II of EEC Reg. 2568/91 for the determination of acidity
  • Attachment III of EEC Reg. 2568/91 for the determination of the number of peroxides
and methodologies:
  • ISO 660 for the determination of acidity
  • ISO 3960 for the determination of the number of peroxides
(The ISO methods for the determination of the number of peroxides and acidity can be superimposed on the analytical criteria established for the same parameters by EEC Regulation no. 2568/91 and subsequent modifications.)

The oily matrices tested are:
  • peanut oil
  • grape seed oil
  • olive oil
  • rectified olive oil
  • extra virgin olive oil


Outcome of the test carried out by the Neotron Laboratory:

"the FoodLab method performances are competitive with those obtained with the application of Attachment II of EEC Reg. 2568/91 for the determination of acidity and ISO 660, and that it is in line with the analytical tolerances required for a testing laboratory.
Also for the test relative to the determination of acidity, we can observe that the FoodLab system allows measuring oily matrices of different types.


In conclusion, these excellent analytical results, together with its practicality of use and extreme versatility, make it a valuable instrument that can be widely used wherever analytical tests are requested".
