Quality and control analysis of food system

The FoodLab system is made up of a portable analyzer that uses a sophisticated spectrophotometric technology and of a series of specific reactives, prepared by CDR research laboratories.

The instrument does not need to come into direct contact with the samples and carries out tests on RAW MILK, RAW SEED OIL, RAW OLIVE OIL, MELTED FATS, DRIED FRUIT, VEGETABLE PURÉE, CHEESE, and other DAIRY PRODUCT.
Furthermore, the FoodLab analyzer, using previously dispensed, non-returnable (disposable) cuvettes, requires neither specialized personnel nor reactives preparation.

The individual test is carried out by dispensing into a test tube, with buffer already added, a minimum predefined amount of sample, which, through appropriate reactives, develops a colorimetric reaction.

Furthermore, numerous other tests on milk, fats and other foodstuffs are in the advanced development phase.
The analytical method and the instrument were subjected to evaluation tests at Sinal certified laboratories such as: the Laboratorio Standard Latte dell'Associazione Italiana Allevatori (Milk Standard Laboratory of the Italian Breeders Association).

FOODLAB System, now carries out chemical analysis for determination of:

  • L-lactic Acid in milk
  • Urea in milk
  • Ammonia in milk
  • Chloride in milk
  • Alkaline Phosphatase in milk
  • Hydrogen Peroxide in milk
  • Chlorides in cheese
  • Chloride in aqueous solution
  • L-lactic Acid in cheese
  • Ammonia in cheese Ÿ Acidity in alimentary fat and oil
  • Peroxides in alimentary fat and oil
  • Soaps in alimentary fat and oil

The FoodLab system is characterized by a reading unit made up of three independent cells, each of which can carry out determinations on different wavelengths.

The reading is carried out through solid-state devices and interferential filters. Reading accuracy is guaranteed by the possibility of aligning the system with reference standard.

No preparation of the reagents is required. In fact, previously dispensed, non-returnable (disposable) cuvettes are used. No preparation of the sample is necessary.

There is an incubation unit with 12 wells. Both the reading unit and the incubation unit are thermostated at 37°C. The thermostating system is controlled by a chronothermostat that is programmable weekly, which makes it possible to set the auto-starting time. Thus it is possible to program the chronothermostat so that the instrument is already at the correct temperature when we wish to carry out the tests.

The instrument has a display: the instructions for guiding user operations and the results of the tests carried out appear on it. Furthermore, the printer inside the FoodLab instrument gives a report of the test results.

The firmware can be updated through an RS-232 serial line. Furthermore, through the two serial channels located on the rear of the analyzer, it is possible to carry out the connection with a host computer and with a bar code reader.

Previously dispensed single use cuvettes made out of special plastic, to which the operator need only add the oil sample to be tested, are used in CDR testing systems.
The reagents do not have dangerous solvents and compounds. They are packaged in sealed envelopes containing 10 tests with 12 month duration.
The systems are complete with the pipettes needed to draw and analyze the oil sample to be tested.

FOODLAB SYSTEM'S ADVANTAGES

  • Use of low toxicity reagents that allow easy disposal.
  • Use of micro quantities of sample.
  • Use of ready-to-use test tubes with previously dispensed reagents.
  • Execution of tests in batches. Up to 60 tests per hour
  • Calibration with standard known samples.
  • Standardization according to IFL criteria.
  • High sensitivity, precision and repeatability.
  • Based on spectrophotometric technology, which excludes contact between the instrument and the sample to be analyzed. Thus the system is maintenance free.
  • Tested on vegetable cow's, sheep's, goat's and buffalo milk, fats, olive oil, palm oil, seed oil, and other vegetable oils.
  • In compliance with the analytical standards as per regulation (EEC) no. 2568/91 and subsequent modifications.
  • Can be interfaced with computer system.
  • Useable for testing along the production line.
